The Hathor Label

HATHOR - Beer Label Design for Exale Brewing (@exalebrewing).

This project was super fun and exciting—not just because I had a lot of creative freedom with the label design, but also because of the story behind the Saison itself and the inspiration for naming it Hathor.

Hathor, the ancient Egyptian goddess often shown with bull’s horns and a sun disk, was seen as a protector and guide. She was known for throwing festivals that celebrated love, music, intoxication, and joy. Because of her deep connection to celebration and pleasure, she felt like the perfect fit for the vibe of the Peach and Honey Saison.

For the visuals, I went with playful and symbolic elements: peaches, honeycomb, distilling equipment, and the goddess herself. I used layers of carmine and Naples yellow to bring out the soft peachy tones, highlight the bees’ bodies, and color Hathor’s dress. Byzantium purple added depth to her hair and the bees’ bluish wings, and I worked in a night sky into her hair using a white gel pen.

All of these pieces were then arranged in a layout inspired by ancient hieroglyphic inscriptions, tying the concept together visually and thematically.

Hathor is a peach and honey ale with our house belgian yeast strain to give a dry finish and an estery profile accentuating the peach and honey notes of the beer. It's complex, crisp and thoughtfully balanced.

We will donate 10% of all profits to Young Futures’ Yvonne House in London. A purpose-built therapeutic residential unit for young women aged 16-21 who have experienced complex trauma. For more info on the amazing project and how you can help head to youngfutures.org.uk’
